Lake Awoonga Caravan Park

Lake Awoonga Caravan Park sits right by the dam, about 20 minutes from Gladstone. It’s popular with anglers and families who don’t mind a bit of a drive from the main town. The sites are mostly powered and there’s a decent camp kitchen and amenities block, nothing flash but functional.

The park can get busy on weekends, especially during school holidays, so booking ahead is a good call. There’s plenty of space for caravans and tents, but be aware the access road can be a bit rough if you’re towing something long. The lake itself is good for fishing and boating, but watch for the flies in summer – bring plenty of repellent.
